Sound Impact’s work in schools provides children access to live performance, many for the first-time, and prioritizes instrumental training for students who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. Our longtime collaboration with Company E dancers fuses our love of interdisciplinary programming with science themes.
Time Travel through Music Assemblies & Workshops
Through our Time Travel through Music concerts, students are transported across eras and cultures through engaging, interactive concerts in schools from VA to CA.
Time Travel through Music programs take students on an interactive time travel adventure, introducing elements of poetry, nature, history, global cultures and movement alongside music. Our musicians use live performance, storytelling, digital vignettes and movement to introduce students to a wide range of musical styles introducing composers around the globe who lived from 1263 to 2023.
We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Music at Kohl Mansion and the Moore Street School Foundation this season.
Time Travel through the Ukulele
2nd graders at Ramsay Elementary explore the fundamentals of the ukulele and develop improvisation, composition, and songwriting skills, guided by Teaching Artist Glenda Bates. Throughout the workshops, Sound Impact musicians from various instruments join to collaborate in rehearsals and final performances.
Thank you to Alexandria City Public Schools and the City of Alexandria for making this program possible!
Company E
Sound Impact and Company E collaborate to create powerful interdisciplinary performances that blend live music, contemporary dance, and storytelling. Through this partnership, we bring important social and environmental themes to life—engaging audiences of all ages and inspiring reflection, dialogue, and action through the arts.
Hammond Middle School Instrument Training Program
We provide instrumental after-school coaching to Hammond Middle School students, working alongside high school mentors from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. This collaborative program fosters musical growth, peer connection, and ensemble skills.
