Little Ukes

In 2019, SI recently launched its inaugural summer camp “Use Your Voice Juniors: A Ukulele Songwriting Camp” targeting children ages 4-8 providing the opportunity to learn the ukulele, sing and write their own original songs. SI believes the ukulele is the perfect instrument for this age group because it is easy to play, helps develop eye hand coordination, confidence, creativity and a love of music from a young age. This has grown into a “Little Ukes” monthly class at NewCity Church (Vienna, VA) and a second annual camp to take place in 2020.

“The Trouble with Ben”

“The Trouble with Ben” is an interactive 45 minute education program that inspires self-esteem in even the youngest audience member. A combination of original music (commissioned by SI) written by dynamic composer D.J. Sparr interweaved with narration of the beloved children’s book written by Grammy award winning performer and writer Barry Louis Polisar bring to life our main character, Ben the Bear. This engaging musical storytelling explores themes of embracing diversity and staying true to oneself.
