Hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joel Osinga began studying the cello at the young age of three years old. He received a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Boston University and a Master of Music in Cello Performance from Lynn University.
Joel made his orchestral debut at the age of fifteen and has performed as a soloist with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, Brookfield East Chamber Orchestra, and the Wisconsin Philharmonic, winning the Shining Stars Competition. He has appeared in recital at the Kent Blossom Chamber Music Festival as a featured artist in their Recital Concert Series. He has attended other summer programs such as Orchestre de la Francophonie, Prague Summer Knights, and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. He has performed in many masterclasses for prominent cellists including Tamas Varga, Dmitry Kouzov, Norman Fischer, Zladomir Fung and Natasha Brofsky.
Growing up in Milwaukee, he developed a fondness for orchestral performing with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, joining the group at the age of nine. Despite recently moving here, Joel is very active in the Florida music scene. He holds positions with the Nu Deco Ensemble and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, as well as performing with groups such as Palm Beach Opera, Symphony of the Americas and The Cleveland Orchestra. Furthermore, he performs and records regularly for renowned artists The Beach Boys, Jorge Chacin, and Bad Bunny on his North American "Most Wanted" tour.
When not playing his cello, Joel enjoys exploring a variety of hobbies such as exercising, dancing and chess.
